DA slams Gauteng Education over R117 million municipal debt crisis [SOUND]

# The DA says Gauteng public schools owe municipalities 117.2-million-rand, threatening electricity and water disconnections. Education MEC Lebogang Maile disclosed this in reply to DA questions in the legislature. The party’s Michael Waters calls on Maile to conduct a province-wide assessment of municipal costs and explain how the debt will be settled without cutting learning programmes. He says the party also wants him to reconsider the 343.9-million-rand funding cuts to schools in wealthier areas:
