# The DA in Johannesburg says it rejects City Power’s plan to cut electricity to entire neighbourhoods until 80-percent of households can prove legitimate vending compliance. The power utility says this will be done to deal with illegal connections, which damage infrastructure and put the entire electricity grid at risk. The DA’s Tyrell Meyers says the metro’s Electricity Supply By-Laws clearly state that power can only be cut to individual customers who break the rules or don’t pay:
