# The DA in Gauteng says the failure by the Ekurhuleni Municipality not to renew contracts with funeral parlours to collect bodies from hospital morgues has resulted in indigent residents being unable to bury their loved ones. The National Health Act 61 of 2003 mandates that municipalities should cover the burial costs of indigent individuals. The DA’s Madeleine Hicklin says this amounts to financial misconduct on the part of the Ekurhuleni metro:
