# The DA in Gauteng is demanding answers from Public Works, Roads and Transport MEC Jacob Mamabolo over municipalities outsourcing waste collection despite having in-house resources. The DA’s COGTA spokesperson Khathutshelo Rasilingwane says in Ekurhuleni, 102 compactor trucks exist, but only nine work and 93 are broken. She claims that the municipality still hires external contractors raising concerns about service duplication and budget misuse:
