# The DA in the Free State has welcomed the decision by deputy minister of Water and Sanitation, Isaac Seitlholo to stop the Vaal River pollution crisis. The DA’s Igor Scheurkogel says the Metsimaholo Municipality has failed for years to maintain its pump stations and sewage infrastructure, allowing the flow of raw sewage into the Vaal River system, especially around Abrahamsrus and Taaibos. He says this neglect has led to severe environmental destruction:
