# The DA in the Eastern Cape has welcomed the return of its provincial Leader, Andrew Whitfield, to the provincial legislature in Bhisho. Whitfield will assume the role of Leader of the Official Opposition, building on the success of his predecessor, Vicky Knoetze, who will assume the role of Chief Whip. He says he will be filling the legislature vacancy created after former DA Chief Whip, Yusuf Cassim, was announced as deputy minister of Higher Education and Training:
