DA challenges Ekurhuleni’s cable theft reporting rules to NERSA [SOUND]

# The DA has written to the National Energy Regulator of South Africa, urging an investigation into Ekurhuleni’s policy requiring residents to obtain affidavits and open police cases before stolen electricity cables are replaced. DA’s Michael Waters says this creates barriers to service, and unfairly shifts the City’s responsibility to residents. He also wants NERSA to probe past one-thousand-750-rand reconnection fees and possible license breaches by the municipality:
