# The DA has called on Justice and Constitutional Development minister Mmamoloko Kubayi and the National Prosecuting Authority’s leadership to account for the alarming decline in firearm convictions and failures in the prosecution system. The party’s Nicholas Gotsell says according to Kubayi’s response, over the past two years, a total of ten-thousand-315 cases involving the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition were enrolled in district and regional courts. He says six-thousand-569 cases were withdrawn after enrolment, 101 cases resulted in acquittals, and only one-thousand-671 cases were finalised with convictions.
