# Cosatu says it is concerned about the financial position of the Unemployment Insurance Fund. This is after it emerged that a company was granted an 807-million-rand bailout even though it did not qualify. Cosatu’s spokesperson, Zanele Sabela, says the Siyanda-Bakgatla Platinum Mine first applied for financial relief from the UIF’s Temporary Employer/Employee Relief Scheme in early 2024 but was rejected. She says, however, late last year, former Department of Employment and Labour’s acting director general, Viwe Mlenzana, approved the scheme:
