Committee says delays in digital migration are placing an unnecessary financial burden on the state

# Parliament’s portfolio committee on Communications and Digital Technologies says it is concerned over the prolonged delays in completing South Africa’s long-delayed Broadcasting Digital Migration programme. Legal proceedings over the programme continue to hold up the analogue television switch-off. Committee chairperson Khusela Sangoni-Diko says it is unfortunate that disagreements around the implementation of the programme have reached the courts for the second time. She adds that the continued delays are placing an unnecessary financial burden on the state through the costs associated with dual illumination.
