# City Power has cautioned customers against paying any technician or contractor for repairs or other network-related work. This as the power utility has noted several incidents where customers paid technicians thousands of rands for unauthorised reconnections. City Power’s spokesperson, Isaac Mangena, says unfortunately this leaves customers with a bigger financial burden of having to pay for proper reconnection and penalty fees in addition to their outstanding electricity bills:
