# Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero says City Power is planning to expand its operations beyond electricity distribution, with ambitions to become a broader energy services business. The utility plans to roll out more electric vehicle charging infrastructure across the metro, and explore partnerships to make electric mobility more accessible and affordable. City Power entered the electric vehicle charging market in March with its Reuven fast-charging station. Morero says this initiative forms part of the metro’s broader efforts to turn around its municipal entities, modernise their operations and create new growth opportunities.
