# City Power has appealed to the police and the Department of Defence for military intervention to help secure the City of Johannesburg’s power grid. This is due to the escalating theft, vandalism and sabotage of critical electricity infrastructure reported across the metro. In the latest incident, the Braamfontein Substation was vandalised, and cables were stolen. City Power’s spokesperson Isaac Mangena says this left customers in Braamfontein, Parktown, Parktown West, Wits University and surrounding areas without electricity:
