# The City of Johannesburg says more than one-billion-rand in qualifying municipal debt relief has been submitted for processing. The relief comes from more than 18-thousand applications received by the end of July, linked to about two-billion-rand in outstanding debt. Most of the relief is for Expanded Social Package beneficiaries, residential customers and pensioners. The first batch of relief is set to be reflected on accounts by the end of this month. Applications for the debt relief programme close on 31 October.
