City of Joburg EMS urges caution when performing rituals in rivers [SOUND]

# The City of Johannesburg’s Emergency Management Services is urging all residents, especially faith-based organisations conducting baptism or cleansing rituals in rivers and other natural water bodies, to always prioritise safety. In recent years, there have been a number of incidents where people have been swept away by raging water in rivers and streams whilst performing rituals. EMS spokesperson, Xolile Khumalo, says people need to check weather forecasts, river conditions, and water levels, as sudden changes can quickly cause hazardous situations:
