# The City of Cape Town’s enforcement departments are ready to tackle the illegal sale and setting off of fireworks. This as Diwali is coming up next Monday, and Guy Fawkes on the 5th of November. Mayoral committee member for Safety and Security, JP Smith, says the sale of fireworks is regulated; anything else is illegal. He adds that the metro also does not support the sale and use of sky lanterns, as these too present a fire risk:
