City of Cape Town calls for decentralisation of aid provision to improve disaster response [SOUND]

# The City of Cape Town has called for the decentralisation of aid provision to improve disaster response. The call follows a significant increase in weather-related incidents, with over 30-thousand such incidents reported between July and December last year. Mayoral committee member for Safety and Security, JP Smith, says the South African Social Security Agency’s control over aid has slowed down responses and he believes local management would allow for quicker action during disasters:
