# The City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Directorate says work on its pipe replacement programme is accelerating, with several sewer and water pipe replacement projects underway. One of the projects, which kicked off in January, is the much-needed rehabilitation of the sewers in Uitsig. Mayoral committee member for Water and Sanitation, Zahid Badroodien, says the metro has expanded its pipe replacement programme by setting aside 523-million-rand for infrastructure maintenance in the 2024/2025 financial year:
