Cape Town plans to spend R8.3-billion on human settlements housing and services [SOUND]

# The City of Cape Town’s Human Settlements Directorate plans to spend approximately 8.3-billion-rand in capital on affordable housing rollouts, and the enhancement of service delivery in informal settlements. Approximately 98-percent of the current year’s budget is expected to be spent by July. Mayoral committee member for Human Settlements, Carl Pophaim, says the housing sector is under severe strain, in Cape Town and the rest of South Africa, with dwindling public housing funding, and policy uncertainty:
