# The City of Cape Town has approved ward allocations of nearly 4.4-million-rand to support accredited Neighbourhood Watches in the 2025/2026 financial year. This process is managed by the Safety and Security Directorate through the Neighbourhood Watch Support Programme. Mayoral committee member for Safety and Security, JP Smith, says over time, the programme has grown from equipment handovers to include training and skills development opportunities like First Aid, and monitoring duties in local CCTV control rooms:
