# Cape Forum has denounced the Northern Cape SAPS decision to take statements only in English, calling it unconstitutional. The forum’s Bernard Pieters says that the policy, signed by the deputy provincial commissioner, Luntu Ngubelanga, contradicts the Constitution and the Use of Official Languages Act. Pieters warns it discriminates against Afrikaans-speaking communities and could lead to translation errors. He criticised the move, calling it tone deaf and harmful to justice.
