# Bishop Azwihangwi Maumela has apologised and withdrawn remarks he made after suspended deputy police commissioner Shadrack Sibiya’s sexual offences court appearance. Maumela says he reflected on his comments and accepts he should have handled the matter with greater sensitivity, particularly because it involves a minor. Maumela has withdrawn allegations concerning president Cyril Ramaphosa, law enforcement and the Madlanga Commission. Maumela says he accepts responsibility, did not intend to threaten or intimidate anyone and will allow legal processes to take their course.
