# DA councillor October Haarvoor has been elected as the new deputy mayor of Beaufort West. The post was left vacant by former acting deputy mayor, Gina Duimpies, who is now the town’s first citizen. DA Western Cape leader, Tertuis Simmers, says that in 2024, October was elected as Ward 1 councillor and has served his community with pride:
