# The ANC in the Western Cape has temporarily suspended former Knysna mayor Aubrey Tsengwa over allegations of misconduct. The suspension follows his resignation as a councillor last month, after being removed as mayor in February. The ANC says Tsengwa’s unilateral decision to resign his ward councillor’s seat in the Knysna Municipality has undermined the party’s authority and discipline. The party’s provincial secretary, Neville Delport, says the ANC now finds itself in a situation of having to contest a by-election at a very inopportune time.
