# ANC and DA councillors are trading blame over the increase in informal settlements in Tshwane. The number of informal settlements has risen from 220 in 2019 to over 500. Both parties are accusing each other of poor governance, with ANC’s Joel Masilela saying the DA-led administration failed to curb land invasions during its term. Meanwhile, DA chief whip Ofentse Madzebatela blamed the ANC-EFF coalition, alleging the ANC’s complicity in illegal land occupations. Responding, Masilela insisted that the DA failed to manage urban development effectively.
