# The Ngwathe Local Municipality has lost its bid to appeal, leaving the Free State High Court’s ruling in AfriForum’s favour, which dissolves the council and orders provincial intervention. Judge JP Daffue confirmed that the municipality’s mismanagement, financial crisis, and inability to deliver basic services justify provincial oversight. AfriForum’s Corne Cronje says the party welcomed the decision, highlighting that it protects residents’ rights to water, waste removal, and financial transparency.
