# AfriForum says the National Water Act does not make redress a separate requirement that must be met before a water licence application can be considered. The organisation is challenging a requirement on the Department of Water and Sanitation’s online system for applicants to show how their proposed water use will address past racial and gender discrimination. AfriForum’s Marais de Vaal says the requirement could affect investment, jobs and the productive use of water:
