# The Tshwane Metro Police Department has expressed concern at the growing number of vehicles impounded due to illegal parking within the metro. In May alone, approximately one-thousand-100 vehicles were impounded for parking violations. The TMPD says illegal parking poses significant risks to motorists, pedestrians and emergency services. It adds that more critically, it can block access to vital buildings, including emergency department access, potentially delaying urgent medical and emergency responses that save lives.
