# Tourism minister Patricia de Lille has described Kruger National Park as an iconic world heritage site and one of South Africa’s most important tourism assets. Speaking during the park’s 100-years celebrations at Skukuza Rest Camp in Mpumalanga, de Lille praised Kruger’s contribution to conservation, biodiversity protection and economic development. She said the park continues to attract visitors from across the world while supporting jobs and local communities:
# DA leader Geordin Hill-Lewis has hailed a historic breakthrough for the party, claiming victory in Mfuleni, a community where the DA previously secured one-percent of the vote. Speaking at the party’s voter registration campaign launch in Tshwane, Hill-Lewis said recent electoral gains in Mfuleni, Everton and Makishamalala marked a turning point in South African politics. He described the results as evidence of growing support beyond the DA’s traditional voter base:
# The South African Revenue Service Customs and Excise head Beyers Theron has reiterated that all foreign-registered vehicles entering South Africa must be declared for temporary importation from tomorrow. Beyers says Foreign vehicle owners must declare vehicles through the Traveler Management System before entering or leaving the country. He stressed to SABC News that the process forms part of efforts to modernise customs systems and strengthen security at ports of entry:
# Justice and Constitutional Development minister Mmamoloko Kubayi has emphasised the important role of legal practitioners in advancing constitutional values, social justice and equal access to opportunities within the legal profession. Speaking at a legal sector engagement in Kimberley, Northern Cape, Kubayi highlighted the need for continued transformation, inclusivity and fair representation across the profession. She also called on legal practitioners to play a leading role in upholding the Constitution and supporting South Africa’s broader socio-economic development goals.
# Clashes between football fans and police across France have led to more than 400 arrests following the victory of Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final against Arsenal. Thousands of officers were deployed to curb unrest that disrupted bus, train and rail services in the capital Paris. Fireworks and flares were set off, while several police officers were injured in the fray. Police fired tear gas to disperse crowds in the city centre. Police said six vehicles, two businesses and a bus shelter were damaged during the unrest.
# And finally tennis, defending champion Coco Gauff suffered a shocking third-round exit at The French Open yesterday. The American world number three was knocked out by 28th seed Anastasia Potapova in a tense three-set battle. Gauff had previously shown impressive form on the Parisian clay. She opened her campaign with a dominant 6-4, 6-0 victory over Taylor Townsend. She then cruised past Egyptian qualifier Mayar Sherif in two sets in the second round. Potapova who now represents Austria, will now face the 22nd seed, Anna Kalinskaya from Russia in the round of 16.
