# The sentencing of convicted child sex offender Iain Wares has been postponed to 7 June for pre-sentencing in the Wynberg Regional Court. The 86-year-old former teacher was due to be sentenced after being convicted of indecently assaulting a former pupil at Rondebosch Boys’ Primary School in 1988. His new defence lawyer requested more time to obtain a social worker’s report and prepare for pre-sentencing proceedings. He remains out on bail for the extradition proceedings to Scotland, which was cancelled in April when the state prosecutor was unavailable due to illness and no replacement could be found.
