# The George Municipality in the Western Cape says tap water remains safe for human consumption, following recent heavy rainfall and flooding in the Garden Route area. Residents in parts of Denneoord and the George CBD experienced discoloured or brown water. The municipality’s spokesperson, Debra Sauer, says water is tested according to regulatory standards. She adds that if discolouration is experienced, allow taps to run briefly until the water clears:
