# The DA has welcomed intervention by Health minister Aaron Motsoaledi to secure a temporary reprieve for 176 mental health patients at the Talisman Foundation, scheduled for eviction on May 14. The DA’s Jack Bloom says this move prevents another Life Esidimeni tragedy where 144 mentally ill patients died following their unlawful transfer from Life Esidimeni care centres to unlicensed non-governmental organisation centres in Gauteng. He criticised premier Panyaza Lesufi for inaction:
