City of Cape Town commits more than R1.20-billion on energy security and diversification [SOUND]

# The City of Cape Town says the draft 2026/2027 Energy budget affirms plans to secure the metro’s dynamic, decentralised energy future, with less reliance on Eskom. The 71.3-billion-rand budget over the next three years will help enhance energy security, infrastructure investment, and improved affordability. Mayoral committee member for Energy, Xanthea Limberg, says the metro’s planned commitments include a 1.245-billion-rand investment over the medium-term on energy security systems, and Steenbras pumped storage power station upgrades:
