DA criticises the City of Johannesburg for slashing Joburg Water’s budget [SOUND]

# The DA in Gauteng has criticised the City of Johannesburg for slashing Joburg Water’s budget by 201-million-rand for the 2025/2026 financial year. The operational budget, which is used to provide day-to-day services to the residents, currently stands at 19.95-billion-rand, while the capital budget, which is used to fund long-term infrastructure projects, is 1.7-billion-rand. The DA’s Nico De Jager says the current budget is insufficient for all the maintenance work needed on the ageing water infrastructure:
