# The Western Cape Education Department says 166-thousand-144 learners applied on time for Grade R, 1, and 8 placements for 2027 before the 14 April deadline. Education MEC David Maynier says late applications will remain open but will only be considered after on-time submissions. School placement outcomes will be released, with parents required to confirm acceptance by 15 June. He says transfer applications will open in August for other grades:
