Government counts down to digital TV migration

# The Department of Communications and Digital Technologies says it is intensifying efforts to complete South Africa’s migration from analogue to digital television, with just over 30-thousand set-top box installations remaining. Communications and Digital Technologies minister Solly Malatsi has urged stakeholders to engage in steering committee processes. The project, delayed since 2011, faces legal and consultation challenges. Despite setbacks, government maintains digital migration is essential to free spectrum, improve broadcasting, and reduce the high costs of dual illumination.
