Gauteng schools face severe overcrowding crisis [SOUND]

# Gauteng MEC for Education Lebogang Maile has warned of severe overcrowding in township and inner-city schools, with some classrooms accommodating 60-to-70-learners per teacher. Maile told a media briefing today rising learner numbers, ageing infrastructure, and limited new school construction are worsening conditions. Only 48-schools were built or refurbished between 2015 and 2024.
