# The DA in Gauteng says more could have been done to prevent Tuesday’s devastating fire at Riverlea High School in Johannesburg. The fire, which is the second in a year, destroyed several classrooms, a laboratory and a library, affecting over 300 learners. The DA’s Sergio Isa Dos Santos says, despite the Gauteng Department of Education confirming that a contractor had been appointed to repair the fire damage from April 2025, no work has been done due to budgetary constraints:
