# The National Sea Rescue Institute has confirmed a fatal drowning at Gonubie river connected to Gonubie Beach, Eastern Cape. NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon says a 30-year-old man from Johannesburg was rescued from the water and despite CPR efforts by lifeguards and paramedics, he was declared dead at the scene. Lambinon says police have opened an inquest docket, and authorities have extended condolences to the victim’s family and friends:
