# ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa says the 2024 election was a major strategic setback, with the party losing its national majority in 30-years. Ramaphosa told delegates at the Fifth National General Council in Boksburg, Ekurhuleni that the drop is linked to corruption and weak structures. Ramaphosa highlighted that the government of national unity, has safeguarded the National Democratic Revolution’s core policies, driving inclusive growth, poverty reduction, and a capable, ethical state:
# The Activists and Citizens Forum says Police minister Senzo Mchunu must reflect very hard on the selfish decision he took to disband the Political Killings Task Team. The forum claims that the minister’s decision led to the murder of Marius van der Merwe, who testified at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry last month. His testimony concerned the 2022 murder of a robbery suspect in Brakpan and the alleged cover-up. The forum’s Dennis Bloem says Mchunu must be fired:

# A water leak at the Louvre has damaged hundreds of books, just weeks after jewels worth 1.7-billion-rand were stolen from the world-famous Paris museum. It affected one of the three rooms of the Egyptian antiquities department’s library, with at least 400 books damaged. The problem reportedly had been known for years and repairs were scheduled for September next year. It underscores concerns over the deteriorating state of the world’s most-visited museum. Last month, the Campana gallery, which houses ancient Greek ceramics, was temporarily closed due to structural weaknesses.
# Soccer: Former great Wayne Rooney says Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is destroying his legacy at the English club with his reaction to being left out of the starting team. Salah, who was on the bench for the last three matches, accused manager Arne Slot of making him the scapegoat for their horrible start to the season. Salah, who scored 250 goals for Liverpool in eight years, could only score five so far this season. Rooney points out Slot should show Salah who is in command.
# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 16-rand-93-cents and the euro at 19-rand-77-cents. One British pound costs 22-rand-61-cents and Bitcoin trades at 91-thousand-608-dollars.
