South Africa scored a last-minute try to seal the victory and finished the weekend as the only unbeaten men’s team at the Cape Town stadium. Fiji defeated France 26-19 to finish third. # Golf: Kristoffer Reitan has made history by becoming the first Norwegian to win the Nedbank Golf Challenge at Sun City. He held his nerve against Jayden Schaper of South Africa and England’s Dan Bradbury for a one-shot victory on 17 under par with a closing 72. This is the 27-year-old’s second DP World Tour title of the year, which will send him to the Masters for the first time. Reitan says having a five-stroke lead going into the final round was excruciating pressure:
# Cricket: The Proteas Women defeated Ireland by 65 runs in the second T20 in Paarl to clinch the three-match series with a game to spare. Faye Tunnicliffe scored 51 as the hostesses posted 201 for five in their 20 overs. In reply, Ireland was restricted to 136 for three with Chloé Tryon taking two wickets for 24 runs. South Africa won the opening encounter by 105 runs. The third and final match will be played in Benoni on Wednesday, before the teams turn their attention to the one-day series.
More cricket news: Australia has extended its lead at the top of the World Test Championship table with a perfect record from its first five matches. The Aussies went 2-0 up in the Ashes series when beating England by eight wickets in the second Test in Brisbane yesterday. England has dropped to seventh on the table. Defending champions South Africa remains in second place with 36 points, having won three Tests and losing one. Sri Lanka is third, with Pakistan and India wrapping up the top five.
# And motorsport: McLaren’s Lando Norris secured his maiden Formula One drivers’ championship by finishing third in the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The 26-year-old is the first McLaren world champion in 17 years and the eleventh British driver to claim the crown. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won the race to claim his eighth victory of the season, while Norris’ teammate Oscar Piastri finished second. Norris says achieving his dream of winning the championship after a tough season is amazing:
