# The deputy minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, Steve Letsike, has called for renewed commitment, evidence-based policies, and effective leadership at the G20 Social summit. The summit has addressed economic, social, and political challenges ahead of the G20 leaders’ summit in Johannesburg. Letsike emphasised South Africa’s history of overcoming crises and stressed that communities matter. Letsike urged all stakeholders to strengthen weak systems and close failing projects:
# Crime Intelligence head Dumisani Khumalo has been exonerated in an internal police probe and formally reinstated, despite ongoing criminal charges. He is currently facing four counts of fraud and corruption linked to the irregular appointment of Brigadier Dineo Mokwele, who allegedly entered the police force through irregular channels. Khumalo is also facing charges of alleged misuse of intelligence funds and authorising improper property purchases. National police commissioner Fannie Masemola supports his return, saying the internal process found no misconduct.
# The DA in Gauteng today held a picket outside premier Panyaza Lesufi’s office in Johannesburg, demanding arrests and the return of looted funds from Tembisa Hospital in Ekurhuleni. The party called for the speedy sale of seized assets to directly benefit patients, criminal charges for all implicated, procurement reforms, and the dismissal of Health MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko. The DA’s Jack Bloom also demands justice for whistleblower Babita Deokaran:
# The Western Cape government says the foot-and-mouth disease outbreak detected at a Gouda feedlot earlier this month is under control. The affected farm remains under strict quarantine, and all cattle have been vaccinated and tagged. Farms within a ten-kilometre radius are being monitored while officials continue tracing animal movements. MEC for Agriculture, Economic Development and Tourism, Ivan Meyer, warns all movement of cloven-hoofed animals must stop immediately, or farmers will face legal action.
# Golf: The Nedbank Golf Challenge, taking place at Sun City’s Gary Player Country Club from 4 December, will feature a competitive field vying for a total prize fund of just over 100-million-rand. Participants confirmed for the DP World Tour event in honour of South African great Gary Player, include Norway’s Viktor Hovland, who will make his debut, and defending champion Johannes Veerman of the US. Aldrich Potgieter, who finished runner-up last year, is also scheduled to compete alongside other members of the South African contingent.
# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 17-rand-23-cents and the euro at 19-rand-84-cents. One British pound costs 22-rand-50-cents and Bitcoin trades at 91-thousand-645-dollars. Gold sells at four-thousand-and-72-dollars-90-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 63-dollars-65-cents a barrel.
