# The Madlanga commission emphasised that the head of the Hawks’ Tactical Operations Unit, Brigadier Lesiba Mokoena, must return to testify following contradicting statements on participating in a police WhatsApp group. Evidence leader Lee Segeels-Ncube says Mokoena is seeking legal advice. ActionSA’s national chairperson, Michael Beaumont, says nominations close on 30 November, with the party promising a credible alternative to lead the Gold City:
Moving abroad:
# A 32-year-old man from Peterborough, Anthony Williams, has been charged with 10 counts of attempted murder following a stabbing attack on a train in Cambridgeshire, England, over the weekend. Transport secretary Heidi Alexander says a train worker who helped stop the attack is in critical but stable condition. Several passengers stormed into the safety of a buffet carriage where staff closed shutters to protect them. Williams was apprehended at Huntington station and is to appear in court today.
# Cricket: Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar describes yesterday’s victory by the country’s women in the World Cup final as equivalent to what the men achieved in 1983. The hostesses beat South Africa by 52 runs in Mumbai to clinch their maiden title. Tendulkar says they have inspired countless young girls in India to pick up a bat and ball and believe they can also win a World Cup one day. He describes the victory as a defining moment in the journey of women’s cricket in the country.
