# The UDM Women’s Organisation says until the country’s parole system is rebuilt on principles of accountability and transparency, it will remain a danger to the very people it is meant to protect. The recent findings of the Auditor-General on the Department of Correctional Services expose deep and long-standing weaknesses in the country’s parole system. UDEMWO’s secretary-general, Thandi Nontenja, says victims must be placed at the centre of parole decisions, and their safety must carry more weight than administrative convenience:
