# The DA says the Western Cape government is stepping up measures to protect officials amid rising government vehicle hijackings. From April 2022 to last month, the Health, Social Development, and Education departments were most targeted, with nearly 95-percent of incidents involving violent attacks. The DA’s Nomafrench Mbombo says the Mobility Department has added safety steps like 24-hour tracking, removing vehicle branding, stronger security features, and police escorts in high-risk areas.
