# The Western Cape Mobility Department says it is implementing a range of interventions to ease congestion. According to the 2024 INRIX Global Traffic Scorecard, Cape Town is ranked the ninth most congested city in the world. Sixty-percent of passenger vehicles travelling during peak hours are single-occupancy vehicles, adding to the Mother City’s congestion woes. MEC Isaac Sileku says the co-existence of the different modes of public transport is possible, and is the only way to manage and lessen traffic congestion:
