# DA Garden Route District Municipality mayor, Andrew Stroebel, has resigned, with effect from 31st October, as he will be retiring from politics. He was elected as Ward 7 Hessequa Councillor in 2011, then elected as Speaker of Council in 2016. In June last year, Stroebel was elected as the municipality’s mayor. DA Western Cape leader, Tertuis Simmers, says Stroebel has served his community with dignity:
