City of Cape Town’s debt write-off initiative assisting struggling residents [SOUND]

# The City of Cape Town has availed more than 5.1-billion-rand in rates and service assistance to qualifying residents. Council has also approved a debt write-off initiative of approximately 2.2-billion-rand in old debt for qualifying beneficiaries. Mayoral committee member for Finance, Siseko Mbandezi, says currently they also have an active debt write-off initiative for qualifying residents struggling to make ends meet, and also to improve the financial sustainability of the metro by encouraging a culture of payment:
