Over 1,000 suspects arrested in nationwide Vala Umgodi operations [SOUND]

# Nationwide Vala Umgodi operations resulted in the arrest of one-thousand-183 suspects for various criminal offences between the first to the 17th of this month. These suspects were arrested for offences including attempted murder, possession of unlicensed firearms, illegal mining, including the illegal possession of gold-bearing material, and contravention of the Immigration Act. Police spokesperson, Vincent Mukhathi, says the success of the Vala Umgodi operations was particularly evident in Gauteng, Northern Cape and the Free State:
