Cosatu calls on mining companies to contribute to the development of communities [SOUND]

# Cosatu is calling on mining companies to contribute to the development of communities impacted by mining activities. The union federation says while it notes the 350-million-rand compensation paid to some survivors and families of the Marikana massacre, no amount of money will compensate for the loss of life or trauma suffered. Cosatu’s spokesperson, Zanele Sabela, says to date, companies resist attempts to minimise the wage gap, opting for slavery tactics that impoverish workers:
